What made you want to join HRC Recruitment?
I applied for another role through HRC Recruitment, got chatting to the consultant at the time and ended up coming in on a temp basis. That was October 2021 and I’m still here.
What career path did you follow before getting into recruitment?
My main experience is within management and debt collection. It’s something I fell into but loved the challenges it brought and feel many transferrable skills from that is applicable to recruitment for example being adaptable, transparent and being goal/target driven.
What was your dream job as a child?
Nothing, in particular, to be honest, I just wanted to finish my education, get working and earn money. I never really had my eyes set on a particular job.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
Without a shadow of a doubt the 2023 Parkdean Guest Entertainment Award. Dressed as a female, danced, had a grand old time … did question a few things in my life after, mind you.
What do you like to do in your free time?
Main hobby is golf and regularly play tournaments. I’m probably happiest just spending time with the wife and kids at the weekend. We both work hard and sometimes feel the kids get a little neglected during the week so it’s good to have as much family time as possible during the weekends.
What is most important to you?
Family, 100%.
Describe yourself in three words.
Hungry, greedy and lazy.
Now ask the last person you messaged to describe you in three words.
Anti-social, consistent and tenacious … I’m not sure if that means being tenacious and consistent about being anti-social.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself.
I “competed” in Pedal for Scotland 2021 to raise money for my cousin's wee girl who has cerebral palsy. With no exercise I couldn’t cycle my bike up High Street in Glasgow, never mind trying to make it to Edinburgh. My 50-mile journey consisted of pushing my bike up hills and cycling down them. My lasting memory is an older lady (i.e. a granny) cycling passed me whilst towing her 2 grandkids in some sort of wheelbarrow.
Favourite film? Once Upon a Time in America, Goodfellas, The Godfather – that genre, tought to pick a favourite.
Favourite singer / artist? I like a bit of everything - virgin chilled to techno remix - so I don’t really have a favourite.
Favourite book? I’m not really a reader.
Favourite travel destination? Florida if it’s an activity “all out” type of holiday. For a chilled, relaxing holiday it’s tough to beat any of the Greek islands, love it.
Apple or android? Android - don’t like fruit.
TikTok or Instagram? I hate all social media.
Tea or coffee? I’m more of a cold beverage guy but sometimes go for a wee "wake me up” coffee.
Early bird or night owl? Night owl
