Meet the Recruiter - David Colquhoun

Posted November 7 2024 By David Colquhoun

What made you want to join HRC Recruitment?

I applied for a role which HRC had been recruiting on behalf of a client. However, after a chat with the consultant at the time I ended up coming in to help as a temp, initially. I have now just celebrated my 3-year anniversary.  I did have some recruitment experience in my previous role, which helped me hit the ground running.

What career path did you follow before getting into recruitment?

I have always worked within Financial Services in various sectors covering insurance, debt collection and banking in roles such as administration, agent and management.

What was your dream job as a child?

Probably to be a golfer, I was pretty decent when I was younger, however, the social aspect became much more appealing than the actual golf itself … 19th hole, anyone?

What’s been your biggest success so far?

Probably my time at HRC if I am being honest - to come in as a temp, originally, with the aim of it only being for 3 months or so to then be offered a permanent contract. Then I was promoted to a Consultant and then a Senior Consultant all in a relatively short space of time whilst receiving great feedback from my candidates and clients is something I am really proud of.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Spend time with the family and try make the most of every weekend with them as Monday to Friday for both my wife and I can be really busy.  Other than that, playing golf.

What is most important to you?

Family.

Describe yourself in three words.

Dedicated, loyal and hardworking.

Now ask the last person you messaged to describe you in three words.

Stubborn, tenacious and funny.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself.

I told everyone at school that my uncle was the Hearts football player John Colquhoun. Until now I have never admitted that he isn’t and I made it up to look cool!

Favourite travel destination? Greece, all the islands are great.
