What made you want to join HRC Recruitment?
Joining HRC Recruitment felt like a natural choice for me. The values here align with mine, and there’s a genuine drive to make a difference that resonates with me. HRC has a stellar reputation not just for achieving exceptional results, but also for prioritising the well-being of both clients and employees. I was drawn to the opportunities for personal development and an encouraging environment that promotes growth and innovation. Working alongside a great team that’s both inspiring and dedicated confirmed that HRC was the ideal place for me to advance my career in recruitment.
What career path did you follow before getting into recruitment?
Before moving into recruitment, I worked in politics for several years in Belfast, which was a really interesting and enjoyable time. I had the privilege of working as a Constituency Manager and Political Advisor for Fra McCann MLA, representing West Belfast. In that role, I managed the constituency office and advice centre, working directly with the community on a range of issues. I was also involved in legislative work within Stormont Parliament Buildings, liaising with various organisations and community groups. It was a dynamic and fast-paced environment that sharpened my skills in problem-solving, stakeholder management, and connecting with people—all things that translate naturally to recruitment. After returning to Glasgow, I wanted a career change but to something equally people-centred, and recruitment felt like a seamless step forward.
What was your dream job as a child?
Easy. Celtic centre forward. Banging the goals in at Parkhead, no question.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
One standout achievement for me was organising and leading a delegation to Cuba in 2019 at the invitation of the Cuban Government. It was a transformative experience, as we spent weeks travelling across the island from Havana to Santa Clara and Santiago, meeting with representatives from the government and various facets of civic society. It was more than a solidarity exercise with the Cuban people—it was a chance to swap experiences, absorb a unique culture, and understand a different social fabric. The connections made and learned insights remain with me today, reminding me of the importance of resilience and adaptability.
What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy hitting the gym, going out for dinner or drinks with my mates, and if the Scottish weather permits, climbing a Munro.
What is most important to you?
Relationships and connections. I think that strong relationships, whether in work or day-to-day life, are what gives everything else meaning. Staying connected with family and friends is most important to me as it’s them who keep me happy, grounded and inspired. Professionally, I’m driven to build meaningful partnerships with my clients and candidates, ensuring that they feel genuinely supported and valued.
