What made you want to join HRC Recruitment?
In my previous role, I worked on a project that HRC Recruitment was also involved in. I had moved back to Scotland after twelve years in London and met up with the lovely Jackie for a coffee and a chat. I was very intrigued by their reputation as an industry leading company that specialised in multi-sector recruitment services across Scotland and knew it was a no brainer.
What career path did you follow before getting into recruitment?
I had a seven year career working as an actor and singer in the theatre industry where I travelled the world on cruise ships as a male vocalist, performing in pantomime every Christmas across the U.K. and working in the States as part of the Twelve Tenors. You may also see me dancing in a very famous Walt Disney movie … If you pick up my call I will tell you which one!
What was your dream job as a child?
I always knew I wanted to travel and work with people. I think I can look back at both my career working as an international performer and my career in recruitment and say I have definitely achieved that.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
Despite all the odds being against me, I was able to secure a scholarship to theatre school and move from Aberdeen to London when I was 18 years old. This would then lead to me travelling the world for free as a performer. That is something I will forever be grateful for.
When we’re not in the middle of a pandemic, what do you like to do in your free time?
When I am not working you are most likely to find me walking my dog by the sea or in the countryside. I am also a huge coffee fanatic so like to explore new places across the city.
