What made you want to join HRC Recruitment?
I wanted to join HRC because I felt it was time to put the skills I have learned within my degree to use in a different industry. I chose HRC because, from as early as the interview stage, the dynamic within the company and my potential colleagues immediately attracted me. I am delighted it has lived up to my expectations.
What career path did you follow before getting into recruitment?
My background is in acting, mostly theatre. I spent five years training as an actor in both Glasgow and Edinburgh. I have been performing from a very young age, starting in Cumbernauld Theatre Youth Programme and more recently at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. I still maintain a strong link to the theatre industry outside of my recruitment career. I also spent a short time studying Spanish after leaving school.
What was your dream job as a child?
I wanted to be a paramedic, but I have a crippling phobia of needles so that didn’t work out well.
What’s been your biggest success so far?
Starting a theatre company during a pandemic is definitely up there! I am a founding member of F-Bomb Theatre, a Scottish based theatre company made by women who are passionate about bringing life to new theatre. Our aim is to give women a platform to create work they can take pride in as well as bringing complex and powerful roles to the stage. Our debut show sold out at the Edinburgh Fringe 2021 receiving 4 and 5 star reviews. We are very excited about what the future holds.
When we’re not in the middle of a pandemic, what do you like to do in your free time?
Go to gigs and see live theatre. I also enjoy a Friday night in the pub with my friends … maybe a bit too much!
What is most important to you?
I know I should say family and friends but I have a severe lip balm addiction so it’s going to have to be
Nivea Original Care.
