Electrical Control Engineer – Day Shift – Glasgow

The Role
As an Electrical Control Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal performance across production, ancillary services, and warehousing operations. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, you’ll be responsible for enhancing PLC/HMI systems, diagnosing and repairing faults, and delivering efficiency improvements.
This day-shift role requires flexibility for occasional call-outs and offers a dynamic work environment where your expertise will make a tangible impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and optimise PLC/HMI systems to maximise production output.
- Diagnose and repair machinery breakdowns to minimise downtime.
- Support CAPEX projects, ensuring compliance and innovation in automation.
- Train and mentor colleagues in automation best practices.
- Implement and improve planned maintenance programs and schedules.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and factory hygiene protocols.
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- HNC or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, with 5+ years of experience in engineering control and automation.
- Proficiency in Siemens S7 PLCs, TIA Portal, and Profibus/Ethernet systems.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with variable speed drives, servo controls, and Fanuc Robot programming.
- A proactive attitude and a commitment to learning new technologies.
