Position: Support Coordinator – Housing Support Service
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £25,350 per annum
Hours: Full-time, flexible hours including evenings and weekends (37 hours)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Support Coordinator to join a Housing Support Service in Glasgow. This role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable individuals to live independently and develop their skills.

Core Purpose of Role:

The Support Coordinator will be responsible for delivering and arranging high-quality support and care, responding flexibly to individual needs and aspirations. They will assist individuals in directing their own support and care, helping them live as independently as possible.

The coordinator will work as part of a team, leading shifts and guiding less experienced staff to ensure the team provides the best care and daily living opportunities for service users. A key aspect of the role involves equipping individuals with the confidence and skills needed to transition to more independent and sustainable living.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Support: Set and demonstrate high standards of work practice, provide reflective support, and mentor less experienced staff.
  • Service Delivery: Ensure a welcoming, responsive, and flexible service that meets the needs of the individuals being supported.
  • Crisis Intervention: Support individuals in crisis situations and manage risks according to personal support plans and service protocols.
  • Independence & Skills Building: Empower individuals to live as independently as possible and provide personal development opportunities.
  • Team Supervision: Lead and supervise daily team activities, including shift coordination and forward planning.
  • Record Keeping & Communication: Maintain accurate records, participate in individual reviews, and communicate effectively with supported individuals, families, and stakeholders.

Key Requirements:

  • Qualifications:
    • Essential: Health and social care qualification at Level 3 (or equivalent) or a willingness to work towards one.
    • Desirable: SVQ Level 3, RMN/RNMH, DipSW, or a Housing qualification.
    • Registration with the SSSC (or willingness to register).
  • Experience:
    • At least 2 years of experience supporting individuals in a human services setting.
    • 1 year of experience coaching, supervising, or managing staff in a similar setting.
    • Experience working with vulnerable individuals, particularly those affected by homelessness, alcohol or drug misuse, is highly desirable.
    • Experience or willingness to provide personal care.
  • Skills & Knowledge:
    • Excellent communication, active listening, and interpersonal skills.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and flexibility in approach.
    • Understanding of social exclusion, homelessness, and the impact of alcohol or drug misuse.
    • Ability to work within health and safety guidelines and follow agreed action plans.
